Daily Prayer

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

PHILIPPIANS 4:6 (NIV)

●  LOVE GOD

What if prayer became a conversation, not a list?

A daily prayer time is regularly paired with daily Bible reading to make up what many of us refer to as a quiet time with God.

Daily prayer is the practice of communing with God for a period of time on a regular, everyday basis. Daily prayer isn’t just the unloading of our needs, requests, and thoughts before God. While there are moments, times, and opportunities for that, daily prayer also includes times of listening and waiting for God’s voice and response in our life.

THE PRACTICE

Talk, then listen

There is no right or wrong way to practice daily prayer. Some people write their prayers down, others say them out loud or communicate with God silently, and still others draw, paint, or color their prayers. There is no one way that we practice prayer; instead, the goal is ongoing, continual communication with God.

To begin practicing daily prayer, start by finding a time and a comfortable place to be settled with God. Then begin to talk to him, tell him what’s on your heart and mind, and spend time listening to what the Spirit might be saying back to you.
