● LOVE GOD
What if your daily walk became a prayer for your neighbors?
We often think of prayer as a static activity. I go to a certain room, or I position myself in a certain way to be still and communicate with God. But prayer doesn’t have to be still. In fact, sometimes to still and focus our minds we actually need to move our bodies.
THE PRACTICE
Start with your street
Prayer walking is a form of prayer where we walk as we pray. Our walk could be through a building, around our neighborhood or community, or somewhere else. Typically the prayer focus during a prayer walk is the area in which we are walking. If you are walking around your house, you might pray for the people in your family and the people who come in and out of your house. If you are walking through a community, you may pray for the people you know and for the business owners, leaders, and citizens of that community.
We believe that God doesn’t want us just to pray for people and situations from afar, but to be involved and invested in the life of our communities, and prayer walking is one of the ways we can do that.
A great place to start is prayer walking your street. As you pass by different homes and landmarks, pray for the people represented. Pray for the neighbors you know and the neighbors you don’t.
